Fort Point was constructed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers between 1853 and 1861 to prevent entrance of a hostile fleet into San Francisco Bay and was occupied in WWII in order to protect the Bay.

Absolutely beautiful place to be right under the Golden Gate Bridge. Great place to take a lot of great photos as well. Make sure you wear a jacket when you head upstairs (best not to wear a dress).

Fort Point was ostensibly built to protect SF from Confederate attack. Few places are more thrilling to kids than abandoned military forts. They're dark, spooky, and perfect for hide and seek.

Bundle up! It gets cold and windy inside the arena-like fort. Also, make sure to peer through all the tiny windows for spectacular and rare views of the GGB.

One of the best spots to get great shots of the Golden Gate Bridge, and also the fort is very beautiful itself...

Обязательное место для прогулки. И не менее обязательно взять с собой ветровку и шапку/шарф - задувает! Хороший вид на мост
